Thread: Lazy Man's City

  1. #1

    Post Lazy Man's City

I got inspired by Ascension's thread here on how to build a city quickly using filters. I think I have it now. I present - the Lazy man's city. This took about 4 hours but with experimentation. Second time round it should take an hour or less to do. I'm using Xenoflex's 'Little fluffy clouds filter' which allows you to make tiling clouds where you can adjust the cloud size and fractal type - (why or why don't photoshop make these adjustments standard?) and their 'Classic Mosaic' filter to build this, but I think that photoshop's native 'Stained Glass' will work just as well.

It's quite adjustable in terms of texture and where you want to put roads and things. The buildings are just a tad too NSEW oriented but broken up just enough so the eye is fooled.

Also discovered quite a good way to make nice looking realistic fields on the way too.

    Tutorial coming.

Very nice, I like the shapes, they look kind of Nordic in that they're not straight...they have a sort of bulge to 'em. Like the field lines too, turn that into a path and stroke it with a rough brush and you could call it a hedgerow. Now hook us up with the tut.

Lol...it is finished. Ascension, they were meant to be hedgerows but I'm using layers styles to do them. I've put in some noise so that they look more 'hedgy'. Is is possible to stroke with a brush? I though the stroke command just gave you a plain old line x pixels wide and in the colour of your choice?

Yikes, that must be frustrating. I hope it wasn't some random fluke

That happens to me all of the time...I get so wrapped up with the ideas in my head that I forget to write them down and then can never do it again cuz I got sidetracked. Good luck, bro.
