Post June/July Entry: A Practical Guide to Exotic & Dangerous Locations

    Backstory
A book by Captain Dirk Fiddling
"A Practical Guide to Exotic & Dangerous Locations"

This book was written by Fiddling on his expeditions into the
unexplored regions of the known world.
The particular entry we will be focusing on is Fort Grenstien.
Long abandoned Fort Grenstien was forgotten and has fallen
    into ruin.
Legend has it that there is a great amount of precious minerals
    stored inside the fort.

An image of the front of the book. And Current WIP

As you can see the book is well worn with the embosing almost
    all gone.

I will upload the map closer to the closing date.

That embossing is nice and subtle and feels real.

Crap. I was just getting used to "running unopposed," if you will.

I'm extremely impressed, my entry isn't nearly as original.

    Cool stuff

Are you going to do more pages?

I did think about that and am still wondering if I should.
The only problem is the original Image that I used for the
book. I could do more pages but they would still have the
    same book image underlying them

Not saying that you should do more pages, but I like the style and was curious if there was more coming.

Anyway, the right page is a bit unreadable at the moment. You aged it beautifully, but personally, I would like to see a bit more details pop out. I wouldn't change it though, if none of the others comment about this.

I made sure that the map was only barely readable in some parts
ss it is supposed to be an old book. I think Im happy with the
overall effect but I may make changes as Im abit of a tinkerer

Wow, very nice work. Love the "real" feel of this map.

I'm with Gandwarf on this one. I think that the book effect is really pretty, and you've done a great job modifying this image to make the new additions look like they fit. But... a pretty big part of the competition is the map, and right now its pretty hard to make out. I think if you could figure out how to add more hints about the treasures at the fort it would help a lot.

    That said... beautiful!
