Thread: Paths and Layers in Gimp

Help Paths and Layers in Gimp

I've recently downloaded both Inkscape and Gimp (have played with the Adobe equivalents before) and traced a penciled picture in Inkscape. This was done in several layers with an eye to altering them in Gimp however the Gimp import only came with paths, not layers. I have now merge all the Paths into what my layers contained but have no clue as to a way to translate the paths into layers. Can anyone help?

(t'was foolish of me to assume adobe levels of cross compatibility )

    Default

My work flow is to hide all but one layer in Inkscape then export as a bitmap (full page) at the resolution I want. Repeat for each layer. (There might be an expansion to do this in one step.)

Then use the Gimp Open as Layers and select all the exported files in the file dialog to bring them all into Gimp.
