Post Hi I'm new to this...

Hi, I was wondering if there were ways to make a random map similar to a projection of the earth using a program of some sorts? It needs to be clean so I can use a fill in tool to make borders of countries and what not.

Is there a random generator in GIMP or any other paint-like tool?

I haven't used GIMP in a long time but in the version I have you can use:

XTNS > PATTERN > RENDER MAP

Actually, in my version of GIMP (2.6.6) it's File->Create->Pattern->Render Map. There's also Land and Flatland options that are similar. Flatland is probably what you want.

I have 2.4.6 (yikes! much older ), so they've obviously changed things quite a bit.
