Default Necromancer's Lair for Kobold Quarterly 13

This was a commission for Kobold Quarterly #13. I thought I'd take a shot at using a different background for a map, using a metal texture from cgtextures.com

And what would a necromancer's lair be without an evil soul eating crystal ball:

These were for an article on Capture the Flag style combat encounters in D&D (specifically 4E). If you are interested you can pick up the magazine here: www.koboldquarterly.com

I gotta get me one of those crystal balls.

Nice work Torstan! I love the site http://www.cgtextures.com. They are an incredible resource for surface textures and references.

Cheers. It was a small 1/2 page so it was fun to take the opportunity to experiment a little. Not totally convinced with the result, but it's going in the right direction. I think the next iteration will involve more of a painted on feel rather than retaining the texture throughout.
