    Looking good so far...

Wouldn't a pirate lair be located a little closer to the coast?

Nice stuff... the map has a unique look to it and it's very pretty. It's simple (there's not too much stuff happening in the map), yet very elegant. It's a great map for setting the mood for a game for example. Love the paper texture.

Hi Craggles, please use the thumbnailing feature to post your maps, rather than external links (unless external image is a small one) so it doesn't slow post downloads. (I've thumbnailed your map in this thread) To use the thumbnail feature:

When you are writing a post click 'go advanced', click on manage attachments and follow the instructions. Thanks!

Thanks Ravells, I wondered why it came up as a large map - I had foolishly assumed it would thumbnail automatically.

I like it. It does what a map should, with out having to be over stated. the boarder effects are simple yet elegant, the shading and map text choices are simply superb.

I'm only being this long winded because this thingy wants me to type more than "Cool map!"

Don't see a scale bar. That could be the high-tide line...

    Tutorial

    Waiting on a video
The wait is over - the small size is available now but the larger sizers will have finished being uploaded in about an hour and a half.
Graphic Basics Supplemental Tutorial - Layers

From the skill level you are (from looking at your maps), it'll seem very basic at the beginning but has some of the good stuff later. I wanted it to be more accessible to others who'll be on a lower skill level.

The beginning goes quite slowly (as I was very tired while recording) so apologies for that. I did think about speeding it up somewhat but my voice went smurf like.

Also, the video is only about various masking techniques of layers and doesn't talk about creating paper textures at all (which you didn’t need anyway).
