This just came up on boing boing today. Its a bit of software for making and displaying maps. It does the displaying in a map browser using a pan and zoom style again like GMaps. Whats interesting IMO about this is that it uses what they are calling GSS or Geographical Style Sheets. In web pages your supposed to design them with the content and style separate so that if you want to change the look of your page then you only change the style info. That info is contained in a "stylesheet". So these guys have taken that idea and done it for maps which is similar to other map gen tools where they have a programmable texture lookup to raster the map.

Anyway someone has took the open map project data and used that with his own WoW style sheet GSS thingy and come up with this...

http://cartagen.org/?gss=http://unte...n/warcraft.gss

This would be better for me if I had a mouse wheel to zoom in and out. I use a trackball... so 0/10 for UI but 10/10 for the ideas behind it.
