    Post Rising from the past

    Hi guys,

Do you remember some months ago, I drawed Branwynn with FMVIII

But the project collapsed with a bug

    http://www.cartographersguild.com/sh...light=Branwynn

After a long time of reflection, this project comes back.
With some modifications. the most notable is to reduce the size of the city (less buildings means less sadness if another catastrophe occurs)

So, here's the WIP, mixing techniques of GIMP (the ground) and FMVIII (the superstructures)

    Enjoy

Love the peaked towers, very high fantasy. I like it very much.

    Thx Ascension.

    Here is the final version.
Some fields, other buildings and a legend were added.

Should you think this map could be posted on the finished map section ?

    C&C welcomed

The castle on the little island could use a drawbridge. Other than that and maybe adding a border frame around the map, it seems pretty finished to me

I agree with Ghostman - I think this needs a border.

It looks like the castle on the island is a ruined castle, so if that is the case then it doesn't need to have a bridge, but if it is still in use, then it does need that.

The castle on the island is the original setting of the city. It was designed to protect the two bridges and held some taxes some centuries ago.
With the time, the community developped and the hamlet became a small town.
One night, the old castle burned and never been reconstructed.

Its very nice......but......The one disconnect I have with the map is, you use a shadow effect on the hills/outcroppings, but nothing else. Put a slight shadow effect on everything else and you will have a winner.

    Well, NeonKnight...

I have to say, you made me sweat, this night...
Some explanation : The map was done in two parts: ground and relief made with GIMP, buildings and trees with FM8, using the GIMP ground file as backgroung picture.
For that reason, I have to "twist" (the best word my non native english can find) the map.
This is the result... I confess I won't go any further

Should I want to be a winner... I don't know...
I just can answer taht your demand was a challenge, as all my post (for I miss technic words and terms for clever explanations - but that's another matter without a link with map making )

Well, anyway, I'll keep on learning, thank's to you all, fellows, in cartography as well as in english.

So, I hope this last update map will please you.

Enjoy this shadowed version of Branwynn
