The next step turned into a whole other map.

I was spending too much time looking at Greyhawk and trying to figure out what had worked there.

I still have a bit of fondness for my heart for this one. And thank Ralishaz that I had this in an archived Gmail email or it would be lost forever.

Oh, yeah, I read. You should see my old maps (actually one is on the guild site afterall, even though it was done in CC3, it was originally done as PEN-N-PAPER on HEX paper waaaaaaaaaaaay back around 1982-83, and IT has river Violations!)

SO, while it could be viewed as a good start on a map, it can also be a good start simply in the career of cartographer.

With Greyhawk no giving me what I needed I turned my eye towards previous maps and the real world. Europe and Asia to be exact.

This lead to me really getting my feet under me for starting a direction that would eventually lead to the West you have all seen.

    Still something wasn't right.

I'ts kind of neat watching the progression - and seeing some of the names I've gotten used to in a different place than I'm used to seeing

What's the font on this one? It looks familiar, and i may have a use for it

[edit] wow, you're posting too fast, the font question was for the one at the top of the page, heh..

    Well thank you sir

Hope you enjoy the others as this story unfolds.

Can we have a link to that map you refer to?

Okay things were definately getting influenced by Europe and Asia in this next one... I mean this is really just me trying to be Robert Howard and make my own Hyperborian Pangea.

    It's a little sad actually.

    I believe it is Scurlock.

And yeah I am posting fast, I just want to get them up there for everyone to see and get a chuckle out of.

As for the names, once I get a good one I am hard pressed to let go of them. They may change what they are (Tengle being the best example), but if they work, they work.

    Moving on...

So now I realized my reach and scope had become too large... to far. My players were never gonna see half of this world so why was I wasting time developing the far east... I needed to focus on something the size of Europe.

    Voila.

Lots of concepts now getting into place and focusing... I can actually see the West in this one.

Would you mind if I took one of these and put my own spin on it, just for fun?

And thus ends this leg of the journey.

The next step will be showing the evolution of the West, which started small, grew larger and then shrank again.

That process was trial and error of tweaking... but I will tell that story later.

    Hope you enjoyed this

Sure. In fact everyone is more than welcome to the geography, the only thing I squat like a mother hen are my place names
