Post Photoshop Logo Questions (sorry if in wrong place)

So I love using photoshop but I am having a hell of a time figuring out some stuff.

A lot of you seem to be pros at it, so here goes.

How do I make text look like it was carved out of rock, wood or metal?

Here is an example I found online

Well there are probably a dozen different ways to do it. I'd look at some tutorials on the web to find one that suits your fancy.

    ...and a little Google-Fu returns:

See I tried too many words on my searched.

I bow to your Google-Fu mastery

Use layer styles - bevel and emboss (and a bit of drop shadow never hurts either).

One of the best tutorial sites I've ever come across in doing this sort of stuff is the Lizard Stomp website, but it's sadly down.

    Nice one!

So after searching a bunch of "how to" techniques on making stuff, here's what I got...

The font was chosen just cause it was the top of the list

    Nice

I thought the firestone and the wood turned out best of all myself

    Thanks

All I do is make a texture, new layer type my text, rasterize, select, texture layer invert selection, delete, delete text layer and apply layer effects
