Help Gridding a map in inkscape

I have been putting together a map of a sand skiff my party has acquired, discussed in a previous post.

I have put together a map of the ship that I am comfortable with. I want to translate the grid background (100px grid) into a 1/1in grid and print it out so I can layer it over my battle map during game.

Should I just draw lines along the grid lines in a gray color on the bottom layer?
    Is there a better way?

The final map will be 14X10, how would you suggest I split the map so I can print it on 2 pages then join them.

    Thanks for any help.

    Default

There are a couple of grid extensions. Another easy way is to draw an L and create a set of tiled clones.

Export it as a PNG then use posterazor (google for it) to slice it up. Or draw a 8x11 box in the BG and use the export function to just export the selection, then move it to cover the rest of the drawing.
