I am hoping to start up my 4e campaign at the end of this month. In the midst of plot writing and encounter building I sat down last night to try my hand at a world map in photoshop. It is still a work in progress as the title implies, but I'm happy with it so far.

The concerns I have at this point are as follows:

    - Cleaning up the border between the two countries (looks unnatural and pixelated).

    - Rivers and lakes, there are currently non and I don't have a solid plan for them.

    - Empty spaces, I don't want to fill the map with cities and villages I don't plan for my players to visit. There is a lot of open space though, maybe forest, etc?

Any thoughts, comments or questions would be much appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Wreck

Well, a mostly-wilderness setting is pretty great for D&D anyhow, so yeah, I'd put a bunch of forests, maybe some swamps, with ruins here and there. Map looks great so far!

I really like the overall look and feel of the map. Nice, keep it coming.

    Version 2!

I removed the neighboring country as my story really has no use for it. Cleaned up the clutter from the upper left hand corner and made the city names a little less pronounced.

The biggest change was adding StarRaven's calligraphic map symbols (thanks!). I like the way they turned out and hope to do some more edits in the near future based around them. Needs more forest and swamps?

    Thoughts and comments welcome, thanks.

    That's a very nice map.

It has a Wild West feel to it.
