    Wip Finally, an update...

OK, finally had some more time to get something done on this.

    1) Added resource and city symbols/icons
    2) Added map key in lower right corner
    3) Added basic land-based trade routes (may still add more)

    To do:

    1) Sea routes - not looking forward to this part
    2) Labeling, labeling, labeling
    3) Compass rose and scale

Feel free to leave C&C, etc.

Nice icons, where did you find them?

I had to work hard to find these, but I did manage to spot a few C&C concerns.

The blue ingot (iron) on a quick glance-over looked like an oddly shaped lake at first. but that's so minor as to be barely mentionable. The larger concern along those lines would the be coal icon. Besides thinking it was Amethyst before looking at the legend (once again, barely worth mentioning), i did find it blended into the hills somewhat, being a little hard to make out, especially in the location on the southeast peninsula.

I really have to say though, I love this, and I'm looking forward to seeing it with the embellishments

@Gandwarf - The animal & city icons are actually font characters ('Animals' & 'wmshapes' I think) I got them from DaFont.com. The rest is just free clip-art.

@Coyotemax - Thanks...I'm not thrilled with the coal icon either - but I was sick of looking having spent good chunks of the past week or so trying. I may adjust the Iron icon and make it a little more gray *shrugs* we'll see.

Map Finished...won't have time for more updates

Well I've taken this about as far as I'll have time for, but I am reasonable happy with it.

Today I added the labels, scale, compass rose, sea and lesser land routes. I tried doing arcing lines for the Sea Routes but it was to much work. I moved the title from the lower left into the middle to fill up the large empty space that was there.

In case anyone wonders, there is a method to the city names. the prefix for each (except for the capital) is the name of the emperor/etc. at the time of the city's founding.

Feel free to leave C&C though as mentioned above I won't have time for updates until after the deadline.

I think you've found the perfect forests for your style. The hills look good too. All I can think of is that you need more of a varying elevation on the grasslands and then you're set...style-wise. Looks nice.

What is this "reasonable" thing you speak of?

    Seriously, lovely work SG!

    Thanks folks...

@Ascension - Yeah I was pretty happy with the trees - just hope I can replicate the process . I purposely kept the lands somewhat flat without any large mountain ranges, etc. But I see what you mean.

@Immolate - 'reasonable' - 'reasonably'... the god of Typo's cursed me again

Lol I wasn't dogging on your grammer. I was questioning this concept of "reasonable" that you were bandying about. I have not heard of this thing. It sounds dangerous.
