    Map Prydden

First try.. Ok, not first, but first serious try and first map that actually came out any good.
I used a lot of brushes found around here as well as some resources such as the folded paper, so it's not as much 'mine' as I would like. But I don't have a drawing pad, or any kind of drawing skills to compliment it so it's as good as I can get it.
The floating cities are powered magically from water, either a river, a lake or the sea.

But I'm a bit curious about how you all manage large maps. This is a fairly small map I'd say, with not much detail, but Photoshop lags like crazy when I open it. I have the Creative Suite Web edition, 64x and 4 gb ram. How are you able to work smoothly?
    Link
(It's smaller than several maps I've seen here, but still I can't upload it.. Why? Lossy compression?)

you have Sealbay labeled as a floating city, but its not over any water. Also, by floating do you mean floating on water, or in the air?

As for your uploading problem, I can't help you there. I used to have the same problem, but after a while it went away, and I could upload fine. maybe try it a bit smaller.

    otherwise, it looks good.

    Looks nice!
Your map is currently 6.13MB and that exceeds the limit of 4.77MB set for JPG's on this forum. Try saving in lesser quality or shrinking the map a bit to reduce size. You should be able to upload then.

I'm not familiar with "web edition" of cs. when you say 64x do you mean 64bit?

I don't know about other 64 bit versions, but I've never been able to get the 64 bit version (or the 32 for that matter) of CS4 to work efficiently on any of my machines. I get the exact same problem you describe, i had to settle on CS3 in the end.

I like the map, very nice choice of palette.

I really like the mountains and hills.

Also along with the file size limitation there is a pixel limit ~33 megapixels - so keep that in mind as well

Hehe.. Those are the brushes vhailor27 extracted from Ramah's maps

It's the Web Premium edition. I think it got the extended photoshop. And by floating, it's in the air. High in the air, or just above the water.

Ah yes, CS4 then, just looked it up. I spent 3 days going through google and checking every entry i could find for "photoshop cs4 slows down" and trying every solution I could find before giving up. I hope your mileage is better!

Ah, nice one. This is the first map I've seen using Vhailor's brushes and I know I am biased but I think you've used them very well.
The map looks really nice. Well done.

    The mountains look very majestic...nice.

Thanks! I love your maps. Actually, it was the Vaniya map which inspired me to start mapping.

So you are saying that CS4 is bugged, and by switching to CS3 I get back performance? It would be a little awkward, since CS4 is the first Photoshop I've bought legally...
