On the original I thought it was all very good except I personally didnt like the 45deg lines over it so the new one fixes that and most of the river issues. Its a real decent map. I'll rep ya too !

I like very much your work!
Simple but effective. In particular I love your use of textures and colors.

Here are two requests for you:
    - can you send me your desert pattern (or brush?), the one from the first version?
    - how did you manage to add that beautiful "wave effect" to your coastline? I'm sure it's pretty simple, but I'm just a newbie, so a brief explaination would be wonderful

    Thanks!

I really like this map. The coastline is very nice and the shading is subtle and effective. Aboyt the only thing I might change if it were my map is the size of the trees They seem a bit big compared to the mountains. Other than that and the few things mentioned above great work! Have some rep from me.

    Thanks for the comments guys.

The desert pattern that I used in the first version was a texture I got from Genetica. I uploaded it here for you.

It took ages to find a nice wavey line pattern (I didn't think it would be that difficult), and when I finally found one, I forget where I got it from. It's here though, if you want.

    It's looking great.

The only thing that jars my eye is the Popsicle effect along the front edge of the forests. In the thumbnail I originally thought it was a chasm. If you modified the size of the tree brush to break that up would look better? You could also move some of the trees up and down to break up the picket fence look.

Other than that I think this is really looking good.

Here's the latest version of my map. I made the trees smaller, added a border, and a title banner. I think its almost finished!

That's pretty nice; have some rep. I like the smudgy color under each of the natural features; it really seems to help tie the map together.
