The Cartographers’ Guild is a forum created by and for map makers and aficionados, a place where every aspect of cartography can be admired, examined, learned, and discussed. Our membership consists of professional designers and artists, hobbyists, and amateurs—all are welcome to join and participate in the quest for cartographic skill and knowledge.
Although we specialize in maps of fictional realms, as commonly used in both novels and games (both tabletop and role-playing), many Guild members are also proficient in historical and contemporary maps. Likewise, we specialize in computer-assisted cartography (such as with GIMP, Adobe apps, Campaign Cartographer, Dundjinni, etc.), although many members here also have interest in maps drafted by hand.

We were worried though about the time scales and the amount of people on the individual boards who would participate. Though the CBG has many times the member base as Cartographers Guild and PlotStorming, it for some reason doesn't get as many involved in the contests as the other two sites do. It may be my fault - perhaps I'm doing the wrong contests! (though I have asked advice and such on my site for contests people would prefer). It is also my thought that many of the people from the various sites work on their own schedule, and wouldn't have time to do things such as "meet and discuss the contest and get everything together by a certain date." But I think it's a great idea that has a lot of potential in the future.
