    Map TORENTINE: Colonial Era Map

This is a map that I created earlier this year. There are some things that I would do differently now that i have found this site. Probably not up-to-par with my recent stuff but I figured I'd post it anyhow. Then when i revisit the idea with new skills there will be something here to compare it to. It is viewed as the Tor's traditionally viewed the world (until about 100 years ago their time), sideways, with north to the right.

All photoshop on this one. I did swipe the compass and ships from an old old old old map map (by de ricci?)... if it's any consolation i try only to steal from dead people and then usually only if i don't want to spend the x-tra time on something or am being lazy.

I love it EXCEPT for the compass rose. It does add some colour, if that's what you intended, but me personally I would rather like it in various beige-brownish colours (just like the rest of the map). But other than that, this is a great map you have here.

mmm.. yes. I see your point. It was however a 'quickie' to outline the state of the colonies at a certain point and for its purpose i was happy with the outcome. I will definitely revisit this concept starting from the ground up but still working off the general idea... and see what comes out of it! I'll consider it a "finished" rough draft (0:

I like this map a lot and I also like the compass and the colors it introduces to the map...

i like your humor...and your maps. this one though, i agree with above about the compass, maybe less saturation of color, or more subdued colors. it definitely looks like what a hand-drawn map would have looked like. nice map.

I Really like this map. It is very similar to an old map of Scotland I have hanging on my wall. I do think the compass needs to be desaturated a but but thats the only fault (if you can call it that) I can find. Glad you posted this.

    Map Desaturated Compass...

Here is a version with the compass desaturated...
It IS a bit more harmonious.
