    Wip Town of Rul

So, in my Campaign world, I came up with a small trade town along a trade route that I envisioned as having grown from a small trading post into a mercantile controlled town, where various Trading companies basically owns the town, all buildings etc.

So, here is the original map I drew back around 1997, on paper.

I like the radial pattern of the city. Pencil on graph paper really fills me nostalgia, back in the days when we didn't have computers to do the work for us. For me, these sorts of drawings are the heart and soul of fantasy role playing.

I remember when I first discovered hex paper in the mid to late eighties and was over the moon. I think I got through my first pad in a week.

I have a ton of old Pen/Paper drawings of Cities for my Campaign world (Probably around 10-20), some are huge, spanning 4 sheets of paper, like the one below, Quilmon, was drawn on 4 sheets of Scientific graph paper (The millimenter ones).

Yeah, it was originally done on the Scientific sheets and then done in CC2 (about a good 30+ hours work)

But, here is a version of Rul I just finished

Try toning down the shadows and using a more natural green. Right now the shadows are so dark that it muddles the lines of the buildings. And the green, mostly just hurts my eyes. =)

    Lookin good though.
