Thread: September Entry: Glass Ocean

Could be...here is a black and white (pencil type) version and a colour version...which do you prefer? I can't choose between them. I'm going to work on both and see whether one leaps out at me more as I carry on.

I would really appreciate C&C on this drawing, I'm getting to the stage where I don't know what works and what doesn't any more. Lord, I've still got the animation, the border and the paper texture to finish as well...eeek!

I agree! I love the look of this map overall. I could easily see this in a book.
Bill Stickers is innocent! It isn't Bill's fault that he was hanging out in the wrong place.

Ravs--you're too much of a perfectionist! This is awesome! I LOVE it!

One suggestion, though: de-arc the curvature: it is much too curvy & throws the perspective off, to my eye. Otherwise this is really something special: exactly the type of map I like.

PS: nice job fixing the colors! Much, much better!

Thanks all....the desert just looks too empty! (But I suppose that is the nature of deserts ). I just feel that the map still needs a little more interest...boulderfields maybe? I'll have a think.

Thanks Don, I'll try de-arcing the curve, maybe that's why the map is looking off. I'll need to tidy up the lettering as well, some of which are not quite sitting flat.

Here's the final result. I've been fiddling so much with it that I'm heartily sick of it now

Thanks Don for the advice on losing the curvature, it looks less off now. There was no way I'd have had time to do an illustration of Copperhead so I'm afraid it's a bad photoshop job (sorry).

Time for a rest! I am definitely sitting the out the next comp. This one was a killer!

Nice, Ravs. I really, really like the idea for this sort of perspective map--tons of potential, & thanks for blazing the way with such a nice map!

(PS: I LIKE that kind of PS manipulation you did with Coppewrhead--even if it doesn't quite fit the map style
