Help New to here, and mapping programs

    Hello!

I've recently been invited to DM a fresh D&D Campaign, and I really want to go all out for it. I'm using and converting an old AD&D module placed in the World of Greyhawk, specifically the Principality of Ulek. If you don't know the place I refer too, thats okay :-)
I'd like to create some pretty detailed maps for the areas that we'll be exploring. However, I don't really want them to be in color.

Allow me to clarify. I'd like to create b&w maps that I can print out on letter paper and blow up to 11 x 17 - at least - then color, possibly, myself.

However, I'm having a particularly hard time with even using Campaign Cartographer ... I just cannot seem to get the grasp of it, never mind putting things not in color.

Could anyone perhaps toss me some pointers, or direct me towards an overland map tutorial that could help?

    Thanks!

If you want some really lovely pre-made World of Greyhawk maps, then do a search on 'Anna' She's made some fab ones which are posted here.

In terms of tutorials, check out the tutorial forum or the quickstart guide (the sticky at the top of this thread) which should set you in the right direction. Good luck and hope you have lots of great maps to post!

Yeah, I have her map of the Principality of Ulek. However, thats not something I can really print and handout to my players. Her maps are fabulous, but I'm a kinda hands-on DM. I like to give my players stuff to use. I guess I'm trying to be emersive. For me, the more emersed in the story they are, the less likely they are to metagame.

Thanks for pointing my nose in the direction of some (potentially) helpful material.
