    Wip WIP - CD3 - Wittgenfels

    Initial situation:
It was time for me to use CD3 again, so I don't forget how to use it.

    Story [rough]:
The city is located in the Midlands from the Re'Skaal continent in the second cycle.

At the beginning of the second cycle a mine was located where later the castle should be build. After the finding of a rare metal the operators of the mine declared themselves independent from the realm of Aenos. The local regents sent an army to defeat the defectors, but the army was very small because most soldiers were killed in the "Magician Wars" and due to the exposed position the miners succeeded. With the valuable metal as the main trading good merchants came and settled next to the mountain of Wittgenstein.

The mine was extended to a castle complex called Wittgenstein, build into the solid stone around the mountain. Later the settlement, which grew rapidly, took name Wittgenfels.
Most parts of the casle and town were destroyed during the "Automaton Wars".

    Tools:
The city was created with CD3, the streets, fields, background, mountains, hand drawn sketch and part of the Re'Skaal map with photoshop.

    TODO:
    - adding the castle complex
    - adding vegetation
    - changing the mountains to grey
    - fixing the street and further textures to seamless ones
    - find a way to add a good looking mountain range with CC3
    - adding a legend and perhaps a frame
    - much more things I can't estimate yet

    CC of course is welcome!

    regards

    Torsten

This is quite nice and has a comfortable feel to it...I can't really describe it better than that.
If the radiance of a thousand suns was to burst at once into the sky, that would be like the splendor of the Mighty One...I am become Death, the Shatterer of worlds.

    Me too.
I already like the first B&W drawing as it is.
And are you going to call the castle "Wittgenstein", by any chance?

    Thanks for the rep!
I try different styles for the mountains at them moment, but I'm not happy with the results yet.
@Blaidd: Yes, I can change the name when it comes to labelling.

    Nice looking map!

One thing you might consider is that the yard areas between city buildings are more likely to be bare earth rather than grass, due to people trampling them, throwing out chamber pots, overgrazing by various animals (goats and chickens) and a lack of sunlight. There might be little vegetable gardens here and there, of course...

You might also consider adding some non-paved paths where people are likely to make shortcuts, for example for carts and oxen with plows to follow out to the fields.

Thank you for the comment, Paul. These points are on my list. At the moment there is just a dirt layer under the streets, but I will expand it to shortcuts and fill parts between the buildings. Adding small (vegetable) gardens is a very good idea, I will try it.

This is my last picture from a few days ago. I've tried different effects on the mountains and added more dirt between the houses.
    Now the file is corrupt
Every time when I try to export it, Windows throws an exception on the fcw32.exe in the last pass. I've tried to copy every sheet into a new file but this has not helped. I will contact the PF support to get a solution next. If this won't help I will copy the sheets into PS and try different effects there.
