dried-up lake city - B&W 3d drawing WIP
hi!
this is the second map I'm drawing for a book commission (first one is here).
this one is a city situated on a small island in the middle of a lake, with canals for streets, and a huge tower complex for the royal castle.
currently, the lake is completely dry, parts of the city are deserted, & slums are built on the dry lake bed.
the biggest tower should have a dragon-shaped-top.
here's the initial concept (we tried to make the entire city dragon shaped):
then we changed for something a bit more reasonable:
and here is the actual map drawing:
I'll update some more when there's some progress to show.
So ... what's the method we're seeing here? Photoshoppe? It's looking nice, btw.
it's mostly PS.
the perspective lines were done in MSPAINT, it's actually easier - i make a huge canvas, play around with the perspective until i can "frame" the city somewhere in the middle, then magnify it & add as a layer in photoshop.
Progress report: finished the huge towering citadel with the dragon shaped head...
next step: make believable dried up canals
Beautiful, just beautiful. I love a good perspective drawing and this one looks like it's going to be awesome, plain and simple.
Your style is so cool. I have more than a few from your gallery in my 'inspiration' folder. This one should be great. Can't wait to see it done!

besides some fixes - the basic layout is finished! yay!
Finished the B&W version for the book. now I'm just messing around with paint to see if it's a good idea...
It is, it's looking really nice!
