    Default WiP for Dungeon of the Day (Illustrator)

    Here I will post various work in Progress for my massive "Dungeon of the Day" project.

    Comments welcome but some things might be very early/unfinished stuff - such as only parts of an item or just a texture.

    Here's a village I just started (very Wip). I happy with the roof texture/style so far. Might add some dirt on the roofs.
    Will make a cart and add some trees and stuff.

    Delightful! I'm a big fan of dirt though, I wouldn't complain if you dumped some mud on there

    And, as always, I'm impressed by your Illustrator work. The things you do with vectors are inspiring!

    Yes, dirt takes a little more work in Illustrator. I am working on some "dirt and detail" textures/styles but it takes a lot of time (a lot like in days). And I don't wanna "cheat" and do the dirt in PS...

    Do what I do. Once I place a full area of grass, then I place a full area of dirt on top of it, and apply a fractal transparency, allowing the grass to show through (though do so showing more grass than dirt) - it looks very natural doing it that way. Like this... (Note: I did this using another vector application, so I'm sure it could be done easily in Illustrator too).

    Looks pretty good! I know you work in Xara. And yes, Illustrator has quite advanced ways of doing this - 15 blending modes (as in PS) and it's easy to combine textures into one single graphic format.
    I know very well how to do it - I just lack time to make good dirt/bump vector textures - just worked 10 hours doing 12 nice trees.

    Illustrator does add pixel effects in some cases. And you can place pixel images as well. Are all your textures vector based? How much of the work you make in Xara is vecor based and how much in pixel based? You seem to work on quite big sized maps but my guess is that many things are pixel based anyway?

    Some more work.... i can now use the spraycan tool with trees in Illustrator. Very convenient
