Too much space. Citybuilders won't leave big open fields close to the inner side of the wall, as those places become "weak spots". Also, the center of the keep has too much empty space as well, which leads to think that the city isn't developed enough for a wall yet. Usually more than half of the settlement is outside the keep walls.
Otherwise, nice.
Yeah, this forum is very good to get technical and creative Input.
Your map is very nice.
In most medieval cities the outer wall has houses all over it's length, because is has many advantages to lean the house against that wall. The wall becomes more stable and resistant and the thick wall is warm in winter and cool in summer. And after all, if the town has built the wall you've got to build only three walls of your house and get one super-wall for free.
Good advice. Still, it looks good. It occurs to me that the "design flaws" might not be your own? You say it's from the Greyhawk setting...is it a remake of an existing Wizards' design?

Yay ... advice is always good
Yes Narwell is a town from the Greyhawk setting ... unfortunately I haven't found any "official" maps of the city so I had to go from scratch ... in the descriptions the city has a keep with a demense and that the settlement was surrounded by a wooden palisade. The city was recently razed by a horde of invading orcs and then recaptured. The time setting here is a year or so after the liberation and folks are still trying to rebuild. The southern areas are still burnt ruins with the new works east, north and west.
So ... I have a week before players step foot in the place and I am handy enough with Gimp to redraw ... perhaps I should add in more ruins around the outside of the residences??? There is a mention of makeshift tent areas ... maybe fill in the northern "blanks" with a tent city affair ???
Thanks for the earnest considerations
Included tent city areas to fill in the "blanks"
This looks nice, but I would have liked to see a higher resolution version.
Cheers,
