Wip July / Aug '17 Lite Challenge: Map a Hidden Treasure

July / Aug '17 Lite Challenge: Map a Hidden Treasure
This Challenge is for you to map hidden treasure. You can go with a classic and map the palace treasure room, or a tomb with the wealth of the ages hidden somewhere inside. It could be a treasure map showing the way, or a regional map with the treasure cave marked on it. You Guilders are creative so I'm sure many of you will come up with ideas I would never have considered, and they will be strange and wonderful. ( but keep it clean, there are young-uns here )
Other than that you can make the map in any genre, any style you want.

Use your imagination. Use your skills. Have some fun. Win a silver compass, you know you want one, come and get it.

The Challenge will run until the end of the day on the 14th of August (Midnight eastern daylight time between the 14th and 15th, more or less, depending on when I can get to the computer to start the voting) and then there will be 3 days of voting. Someone is going to win a Shiny Silver Compass, make it yours!

As usual, title your threads: "July / Aug '17 Lite Challenge: << your title here >> "

Don't forget to put the hashtag: ### Latest WIP ### in front of all WIP pictures, and especially in front of your final map. And don't forget, there is a new WIP button that automatically posts this for you. Try it, You'll like it!

And remember, if you put more than one image on the same post, only one of them gets picked up.

Quick rules reminder: The Lite Challenge is open to anyone who has not already won 3 Silver compasses, 1 Gold Compass, or been selected as a featured Cartographer's Choice Map.
Also, the map has to be started after the first day of the challenge, no reusing older maps even if they were not finished.

Now to start the challenge I will invoke the sacred words "Open, Says a Me"

Nice idea and looking forward to seeing what people come up with.

Sweet! I think I'm actually going to enter this one. I'm calling dibs on the Minotaur's Labyrinth!

    *EDIT*

Ok, so I can draw a map... but the one thing I CAN'T draw (ok, there may be more than one) is a minotaur. Go figure. That being said, what are the rules (legally, ethically, et al.) on using an image from a Google image search as a background element to a piece created here? Obviously that would be a no-go if it were something I intended to sell, but for a friendly competition like this? Someone educate me!

    Thanks,

If the image is used for personal reasons only (you'll never sell the map, it's only for the competition) you're good. You also cannot use it for an advertisement (specifically, an ad, excluding an example of your work). Some art out there is free, even for commercial purposes but it's best to assume everything is for personal use only unless otherwise stated.

Also, if we had more time, I could probably whip you out a Minotaur without much problem.

Haha.. if we had more time, I'd certainly let you! Alas...

Thanks anyway. I look forward to seeing your work.

Use anything you can legally post. ( not going to be overly picky about that either. )

    I think Bogie meant August

He was really thinking 'August' when he typed that... weren't you Bogie?
