    Default November Entry: Icarus 4000

    Meet the Icarus 4000!
Working on the plans for a 50s style rocket ship, should be fun.

Switching concept from blueprints to a magazine spread, still haven't really started with the actual mapping yet.

This looks like a fun idea I've always loved 1950s style space-tech.

Great start. The tone of the text reminds me of Starship Troopers. "Chased by a bug? No problem with Space Co's TORCH Turbo! Watch as the bug vaporizes in your trail."

Isn't it possible to access engineering somehow during flight?

I've yet to draw in the service-bots including DAEDALUS the repair-bot. The human owner would have no reason to access the roasting hot engine compartment, so the elevator doesn't go down there. Maybe there will be some sort of emergency hatch in the cargo deck. I haven't even drawn in the main airlock yet. But more likely I'll be hand-waving most such things as this is meant to be promotional material rather than proper blueprints and is based on nonsense science, ie in reality the ship would probably be like 95% reaction mass with just the nose as living quarters.

Great setting for the map, I like the explanatory text! Suitably cheeky

Strange, we had a star system map challenge about two years ago, and I created a supplemental interstellar space craft to fill the map - and I'm pretty sure I called the ship Icarus 4000 (Icarus something anyway) - we seem to have the same wavelength with starship names... LOL.

Great minds! That's awesome, my thinking was that Icarus is actually a horribly ironic name for a spaceship. His claim to fame is crashing and dying. It's like naming a line of yachts the Titanic 4000.
