    Info Award Winning Tutorials

We like Tutorials at the Cartographers' Guild. The majority of people who visit the Guild come here to improve their mapping skills and for this reason the tutorial section is probably the most popular section on the site.

Members contributing outstanding tutorials receive a small badge as a token of our appreciation together with a prefix [Award Winner] on their tutorial post. In addition to making it easier for people to find outstanding tutorials, the [Award Winner] prefix also makes it easier for us to identify those deserving tutorials which may have been overlooked.

Until now tutorial awards have been decided upon by the Community Leaders, based mainly on the amount of work put into the tutorial and feedback received on the thread. We would like tutorial awards to be more of a group effort.

If you find a tutorial that has been useful to you, please either leave feedback on the thread or better still, rate the thread using the star rating button on the menu bar above the thread. This will make it much easier for us CLs to identify tutorials which deserve an award.

I'd REALLY like to see thread ratings take more of a forefront anyways, so feel free to start getting comfy with the thread rating capabilities.

I think this tutorial push will do a LOT for the site by A) Enticing people to create tutorials, and B) drawing attention to the good ones.

Dumb question (ie, probably one for the FAQ), but where exactly does one see the rating for a particular thread????? Me no see it. Or is it an admin only thing?

I believe that only when enough people (I don't know how many) have entered a rating for a thread it will appear next to the title. To rate the thread there is a drop down menu at the top of the thread.

Hmm... Arcana, whats the settings for showing rankings? I just happened to rank a tutorial before my question and noticed no change, hence the question....

Minimum was 5 ratings...I set it to 1...if it gets to be a bit much, I'll change it to something else...BUT...the minimum rating is designed to keep a thread from being considered a 5 thread when only one person thinks so. Which is a bit of a bias.
