Post A compass rose by any other name...

This is my first entry into any guild challenges. I used MS Word to create the star form and color, then added the text, layering, and texture in Photoshop.
I may still add more to the image, as I think a coat of arms or something like it should be at the center. I also might try simplifying the color.

Looks good, are the edges supposed to have a sawtooth texture or is that because they need to be at a higher resolution?

When I saved this to GIF using Photoshop, the levels of transparency of the edges was lost. I'm sure that someone has suggestions, but perhaps I should just try the PNG format!?

Yes, GIF only supports 1 bit transparency, PNG supports 1 bit, 8 bit, or 16 bit.

Thanks. I'll try playing with softening the edge manually.

But here is the PNG version to see how that one turned out.

if you want extra sharpness - redraw the stars in photoshop, you can use the pen tool for that ... and congrats on entering your first challenge
