Default Januar 2013 entry: Chapel Of The Holy Rose

So, I decided to participate, too.
It's my first challenge. Let's see what happens ...

Two days ago I startet to draw the border. Yesterday I did the headline and the chapel illustration.
I don't know when I have time to do the maps. But here is what I got so far.

It's only a quick photo because once more I'm working completely freehand on paper.
The page is a handout for the 'Wrath Of Meenor' role playing campaign I play with a few friends.

Another WOW from me. The building looks awesome. Do you write all that Calligraphy from scratch? I wish I knew how to do that.

    Thanks for the flowers.

Yeah, I write the calligraphy from scratch. I'm not a master scribe yet, but I'm working on it.
I had about 50 hours of calligraphy in school. Three months ago I restarted to write everything in calligraphic scripts:
letter addresses, grocery lists, office notes ... There was always a rotring art pen in arm's reach and I read a kilo of books on the topic.
Now I'm quite secure to write without blotches and mistakes with decent speed, but the precision has way to improve.
... and there are so many scripts to learn.

I've done just a tiny bit of calligraphy, with no training at all, so I'm impressed by anyone that can pull it off as well as you seem to be doing. So. Let's see that finished map!

So do you write it and then go back over the edges with a fine point or something? It looks almost watercolor in the middle of the letters and darkened on the edges. I really love that.
