Nice start. The landmass shapes are pleasing to me so far. Looking forward to it.

Well,
This is my new project. It's intended to be used with FantasyCraft, a D20 game system.
First of all, a rough hand-made sketch with some adjustments to fit to the shape wanted.
The all continent is about 5000 km wide and 3700 height.
Some relief is placed as some names of place/people.
It's a first glance and will surely evolve as the world will be build.
I use Gimp.

Next post will show the coastline and the first relief attempt.

That bottom middle part being there is kind of odd but the rest looks great.

Thank's for comments.
So here is some up.
First, the coastlines and the relief. The coastlines are copied and the blured to give somme wideness.
The relief consists in 2 layers Hills and Mountains. Each of them were copied to apply distortion.
Next step will show landscapes

In this step, first, the lands and seas were created.
This layer is used to allow selection of landmass.
After that, on another layer, different kinds of green, of brown, gray were used to draw the basic terrains. The opacity of this layer was reduced to 50%.
I used the the pencil with a circle fuzzy (19) at the size of 10,00 with opacity-pression / Size and color-speed and randomness ; fluctuation at 1,8.
After taht, all the landmass was filtred with gaussian blur 5.0 px. This treatment allows some randomness and breaks uniformity.
This layer was placed over the hill layer intending to reduce the contrast of the hills.
Finally The permafrost layer was created. It was placed at the bottom of all the layers and reduced to opacity of 35%.
As for the terrains layer, I used Fuzzy Circle with white and gray blue.
When all the permafrost was drawn, the layer was copied and blured to give a feeling of haze.
Hummm... I hope this explanations aren't to dark.
Enjoy

I like how you've done those mountains; they look great.
Yeah, pretty nice so far.

Thanks for all these kinds comments.
Actually, I tried to figure mountains and hills as they are created : a rolling of tectonic plate spreading on another one.
First, I draw the upper level, giving a high elevation (about 45-50)
After that, a layer of rolling hills is placed under the mountains and the brush spreads like rays from the center of a circle, overwhelming ...
Using the same parameters for the distortion relief (except elevation, reduced to 20-24).
Finally, the edges of mountains are filled with little patches of fuzzy circles.
Well, perhaps a little sketch would be more clear...

Any comment ?
