Hmm curious to see what you do with this, keep it up!
Started with the few quick doodles. I need to redo the outlines(and might remove one or both of the islands), basically, I was attempting to get a hand drawn feel using a stoked path(meaning varying line width), but it just ends up looking like crap no matter the settings I use.
These are the 5th or 6th iteration of trees... the first ones look like horrible triangles, but I think I got them now. Basically, I am swapping between 400% zoom and full size to check out the trees.
I WILL finish this challenge this time... no matter what..
I am trying quite hard to model this after some of the B&W maps Mike Schley has done and posted on his site, with a little extra flair of my own.

Thanks.... I did some more work on it last night, mostly playing with trying to find the right style elements to symbolize grasslands and I think I found something I am somewhat happy with, though I want to go back and clean up a bit to make it not quite so busy. The "stuff" on the left side was a "test" for rocky badlands, which may or may not may not make it into the final map.

Right as I was finishing up(hand cramping from the pen), I got what I thought was a stroke of genius. I figure I should at least get some points for originality from this, so I present will now present a fairly unconventional take. I am not quite sure sure I am going to stay with this interpretation, so instead of embedding, I will link to the map.

Looking fab, JF! Glad you've found the time to get stuck into the challenges again!
