Really cool. Sad to hear that you won't be doing many more maps (for a while a least). I love the first image with the grid paper; you could almost play battleship with it.
Nice to see a hand-drawn one!
So here's my third map. It's hand drawn, which all of my maps are and it's on 18" x 24".
In my last map I said I would continue with my hand drawn style, but I am going to change things up a bit:
Coast lines will be done in black to avoid confusion with rivers and coasts. I'm going to learn how to do more artistic looking
mountains; which I believe the style that I'm going to try is isometric?
Anyways, Ædorn Drënirasar is my third map, it's been drawn several times before but this will be the final version of it with plenty
of realistic detail. The reason why I'm re drawing it is because in previous versions I didn't quite understand as much of the physical and plate tectonics of continents, so
I've done enough research to make things look a lot more natural. Also I wasn't satisfied with the earlier versions since my artistic skills weren't as great as they are now.
Unfortunately this will be my last map on this forum for a long time. I'm leaving for the military in a few months and I've got a new job lined up next month until I leave so I will have less time to work on it.
From Right to Left:
1.Essentially my first version done several years ago. 11" x 8". This was once considered a final draft, but it's really awful.
2. 12" x 18" The color has it's own sort of charm, however I decided to re draw it larger to add more details.
3. Okay so this is what the final version will actually look like. 12" x 18". I had to re draw it that size so I could get the basic design of it. You can tell it is dramatically
different from the second version. There's still room to make adjustments on the final version, things I might change too but not sure entirely what will get altered until later.

The best maps are the ones we like the most after looking at the longest.
This is incredible! I love the coloring and the Scandinavian feel to the names. And I admire you for joining the military. Thank you so much for serving our country in so many ways.
Good luck in the military, but don't look at it as a death-sentence for your map-making! I was in the navy for many years and it didn't slow down my cartography.
And awesome looking map by the way.
I totally love the colored version. Glad to see our discussion bears fruit
Good luck in the military. I hope you'll still have some time to map!
