always nice seeing a real-world map here for a change. looking good so far
Well, since I ran out of ideas on how to make a underwater city for the Challenge, I decided to be part of the Lite Challenge.
My entry for this one is the Greatest (or secon one...) River in the World. Now, according to my dictionary the english for Amazonas is Amazon, but I felt like naming it Amazonas anyway, I think this doesn't "break" the understanding right?
Not much to say, my first steps have been a little harder than I expected: mapping an actual river is hard, since you have to follow the best way possible its way '-'. Anyway, in the picture you can see my atlas book on the page concerning the north of Brazil, and "below" that my actual drawing, still in pencil.

Yeah, that's why I wanted to give it a try.
Well here is another wip:
Already inked and with all the rivers I'm planing to map. Next step, coloring and writting.
@edit:
About the rivers: I have done them a lot wider them the real ones, or the rivers on the map I "copied". This ocurred because I thought that simple black lines for the rivers would look wierd and confusing. Also I haven't mapped all the rivers of ocurse, there are more than 1,100 tributaries, so only the major are mapped.

Colors are done, I'm now working on the map's font, but I'm posting this one anyway just to make sure a almost-finished-map will be avaliable for the voting in case of not having any time to finish.
Not much to comment right now,

Wow, it looks like it's straight out of a geography textbook. The style on the border is what really sells it for me. I wouldn't say it's a particularly exciting map, but it's absolutely genuine. Nice work!
I agree with you Zarylin, its not an exciting map, but it is still a good one. I like the colours choice and the General Info area.
