Wip August 2013 Entry - Avayevnon

    A late entry!

Avayevnon was the first Campaign Setting I set out to create, and one of the first maps I created. The original was all hand-drawn (WITH A PENCIL EVEN) on paper that I tea-stained to look old. I have been itching to re-do the map, both to render it in color, and to address some egregious river violations! Now this is my chance!

    The Original:

Better late than never. Good luck!
Here's a link to my deviantART, because I haven't got better things to write here (yet).

Ok, an update with some mountains and preliminaries on terrain. Next: Forests!

Ok I know I said forests were next, but I had to place some rivers to space the forests properly, so you get some more rivers first! I will be adding more, and some I still have to fix (there's one that currently stops well before reaching the sea)

    looking good SH

one thing though is the forests seem to have more vertical height than the mountains. Might have something to do with them getting lighter towards the center.

Well That could potentially be a problem, though I won't panic on that until the forests are green. If they still seem higher than the mountains after than, I will have to do something about that. Though to be honest, on this map the mountains have been the bane of my existence. I've done them several times, and nothing so far looks amazing. As it is, I like a lot of my mountains individually, but collectively they make me a little queasy. They also take up as much room as they really can, but they still feel tiny.

    OK!

Major changes here. Completely redid the mountains and the northern ice, and the forests are 90% finished. Just need to add some color variation. This is getting pretty close to completion.

The mountains are 100% better and the forests are excellent.
