I heard about this on the radio. I grew up with Peanuts and thought the animations were spot on. Another sad recent loss is Don LaFontaine, the guy who invented the deep gritty voiceover in movie trailers.
Bill Melendez has passed away at the age of 91. He was the guy Charles Schulz tapped to do the animation for "Peanuts" ie: Charlie Brown Christmas, Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, The Great Pumpkin, etc. Snoopy was the first thing I ever learned how to draw and those Holiday specials are still must see tv for me and my family (parents, sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews, etc.). So I just wanted to use a lil bit of space to say "Thank you for inspiring me to become an artist, cartoonist, and illustrator" to someone who has unknowingly had a huge impact on my life. Rest in peace my good man.
If the radiance of a thousand suns was to burst at once into the sky, that would be like the splendor of the Mighty One...I am become Death, the Shatterer of worlds.

Heh heh... "In a world where" the good die young, he will be missed as well.
