Ooo, this would be great for some naval battles and pirates, arr me luvs me some pirates.
Hi All, I would like to introduce myself and offer up a map that I've just started. I've been meddling with CC3 and Fractal Terrains but haven't done anything serious yet. This work in progress has certainly been inspired by Bohunk's Ystraad Map. I have taken some real world island groups and made some adjustments with scale and rotation to create this small continental island group.

Very nice coastal outline. The influence of real-world features definitely lends this map some authenticity. Are you planning to keep it black-and-white?

I hope to finish this as either black and white or mercator using CC3. I'm still trying to find a comfort zone in what I can do using effects in CC3. I don't have PS and just like the feel of old fashioned maps. Island groups include portions of the Shetlands, modified Falklands, Iceland, and the Philipines.
You could try using GIMP - similar to PS, but without the cost. Very few things you can do in PS that can't be done in GIMP and there are several very skilled and knowledgable GIMP users here.
