Welcome to the guild Osiris.
You are certainly not the only one here wanting to write a novel and creating maps for it
Hi All, I found this site whilst researching for a map I've been commissioned to Illustrate for one of the Royal Parks in London, there are some amazing talents here, professionally I'm a graphic Designer/Illustrator, but have a long abiding passion for fantasy maps since I read the Hobbit when I was 8, no doubt like many other people, Tolkien opened my eyes to fantasy. Nowadays when I choose a new book, I'll always check the map to see if it's a deal breaker!
I've always wanted to write my own novel and I have kept all the maps I've made for my fantasy world since I was 11, most of these have been hand drawn and some in both illustrator or photoshop.
Anyway it's nice to be part of this talented community, when I get chance I'll start posting some of my artwork.

You lucky thing! (on your commission)....It would be really cool if you could post your final image of the park map here, hopefully you might find some nice techinques from the site to incorporate into it!
Thanks Ravells, will post the finished map when done, it's basically awalking route map with noted tree species along the way. I've got a jpeg somewhere of the initial moodboard sketch, I'll post it as a WIP to show you what I pitched to them.
Welcome Aboard!

Almost as good as posting a map for rep is announcing a commission in your intro post
Well done and welcome to the CG
