Looking good so far.
The only thing that's nagging me: the forest and plain look almost photorealistic, where as the mountains and snow look almost handdrawn. But maybe that's just me.
Interested to see you fill in the details.
I've been working on this map for an RPG site, I'm using Bryce 5.5 to make it, and I've just recently started using Bryce again. It definitely needs work, but I'm talking details now I think. Rivers, lakes, roads, cities, stuff like that.
I'm rambling, so anyways, here's the map.

Gandwarf has fallen into shadow...
It's a good start.
I really like the tree texture, though I think it could use some better transitioning between the different terrain types. The ocean could use some work, but I'm guessign that its more of a placeholder for now.
Looking forward to seeing this develop.

Thanks! Yeah, the texturing is a bit off, and the transitioning... Well, I haven't quite figured that out yet, but I'm working on it next. I tried to fix up the ice texture, and I took out the mountains textures and layered in a new one, with some glaciers up top.
Better I think...

I tried bryce out aswell, but it proved to be too slow and the results weren't what I was looking for. I'm hoping you will get more out of the program than I did
