Thank you Jo
I agree - the level of detail (LOD) is insane. Its the reason I'm not going to get more than just Nexus finished in time.
But that's ok, because I need it this detailed for the novel

No one is ever a failure until they give up trying
Its 2am
A brief soft flash of light and "Blonk"....
Mouse opens a lazy eye. She knows that sound, but can't remember....Flash-Blonk.... what it might be...
Flash-Blonk
A sad electronic beacon - a distress call - "rescue me!"
The phone! Of course, damn it! The phone!
Half an hour later, having searched the flat high and low for the charger, to make sure the phone doesn't die before dawn, when I need the alarm to get me up in time for work, I'm ABSOLUTELY WIDE AWAKE, and there's only a very few hours left to sleep before its time to get up again
So, here is a little shading I've done to help my poor fizzing brain settle down towards sleeping again...
Night night....

Holy crapballs, Mousie! I don't check in for a few days and come back to this amazing piece of work...
Aw, thank you D
I won't be able to finish the big map now that I'm working, but I have a plan B in the side wings....
(and if that fails as well I also have a plan C)
Another upload to come later on tonight (later today for you, D)

No one is ever a failure until they give up trying
I have developed a serious headache and a bit of a temperature, so I have decided to try and finish this map today rather than take the risk that I might be coming down with the flu and have only an unfinished map in the final vote.
So I went straight to plan C, which has meant cutting out all the unfinished pearls. This lead to a major upheaval in the composition department. I'm not sure I really like it the way it is, but I'm open to suggestions in the next few hours.
I intend to finish the tour pearls at a later date. For now, though, this has become a map that is primarily of Nexus City - the pearl that has taken me over a month to complete.
### Latest WIP ###
Jobs to do:
- Tidy up the edge of Nexus City
- Remove the stars from the background where they interfere with the text
- label the city
- Anything else that gets spotted before the close of the Challenge

I think it looks fantastic. The city looks really good and I like how that river came out in the end. Also the glowy gates in the temple things is awesome.
Thank you Falconius
I'm quite pleased with the river. I took too long trying to work out how to do it, but in the end I finally discovered a use for the 'Screen' blend mode in GIMP - it makes nice sparkly rivers
Those glowy gate things are just ordinary supernova effects. I used the buildings as a mask to erase the bits I didn't want to show, so they look like they are inside the temples.

That looks swish - I was wondering what you might do to finish this one. That worked out really well.
Thanks Red
So was I! LOL!
