To me it looks like you only need to add some variation to the vast plains, the relief of the foothills is outstanding !

Thanks Thomas. Do you mean that the plains should get a bit of extra texture, like grass or something? Or are you suggesting something different?

Here's another update: I've finished refining the hills, added some texture to the oceans and tidied up the river mouths, added a heap of small forests, and repainted one of the mountain ranges (on the left-hand side).

I'm pretty much finished with the northern continent now, but need to put some work into the southern one (forests & hills especially).

As always, critique and comment is very welcome

That is looking pretty fantastic, Wingshaw. I'm not a fan of the harsh video-gamey dots you're using as (I think) borders. Hopefully that's just a placeholder? Other than that... man, you rock.

That's what I was talking about but your forests with their varied density fixed it. You're good to go ! Except for the dots, I agree with D. on these. That's a fantastic piece in the making !

This is gorgeous! I'm in love with the ripple-y textured feel of the hills and mountains on the top continent.

I love the mountains. They look like a nice mix of traditional fantasy map style mountains and realistic ones. Great work.

    Thanks guys.

Another update below: Diamond and Thom, does this border seem better?

Now, my cartographic comrades, I want your help. This map is very close to complete, and I've spent so long working on it so far, I want to make sure it is as good as I can make it. So, please, hit me with your comments, critiques and suggestions. Pending the client's approval, this is the last update before I start adding labels and locations. The more thorough and detailed the feedback I get, the better I am able to make this map that I've been working on since 2016.

To be honest, my personnal taste would go for completely drop the border on the mountains and lower the opacity of it on the rivers... You have such splendid mountain ranges & shading. It's quite obvious those mountains are natural borders.
But that's my personnal view & taste, nothing more.

Your clients got amazing maps, for sure!

    Oh this is beautiful!

Sorry Wingshaw - missed it the first time!

I think the border is better, but maybe in a different colour? I almost mistook it for a badly drawn ridge line to start with where it goes along the exact crest of the mountains. And that had me really frowning to start with because the rest is so very well drawn...

Maybe a more border-like colour? a subdued red of some kind?

    See what the others say

    This is a beautiful map!
Especially the river lake on the upper left is good.
