    I'm not convinced on the rapids yet, I think they need some more work but this map is getting close to being done now I think.

    Ooh, the rapids are right at my sketching spot! Maybe give the rapids a bit more direction in their flow? Is there a smudge tool in GIMP? Just pulling those a little bit in the direction of flow might work. I think the reason I thought the fields didn't have growth was because I can see the lines of the furrows, and those would probably be at least partially obsured by crops that were growing in there.

    Only suggestions, your map was looking good before I mentioned rapids even

    Cheers,
    Meshon

    Edit: Ah, I get what you're saying about the fields. I think I interpreted their colour as being turned earth.

    your map is looking good. My 2 cents on the rapids is that I would have more than 1 place with them. Now, there is nothing wrong with just having 1 set of rapids, but I think it will look more visually balanced if there were a couple places with rapids.

    I added in a second, smaller set of rapids and I agree it makes the river look a lot more balanced. Thanks for the suggestion!

    How about adding a couple of rocks to the rapids - though not too many, or too dramatic, since the landscape suggests the river is mature, with meanders, and probably sitting in a broad flat valley.

    Nice village, I like the fields, the road is perhaps a littke blurry ? Maybe a down bevel or strokes around ? Just my opinion ;

    Rocks added to the river and a bevel to the roads.

    That's good

    Maybe smear the white water downstream of the rocks in the direction of flow to give it a bit more movement?

    Up to you
