Yes, I second that! A blend of the two to give an impression of greater depth further from land

Oh, no, how do I compete?!

I like them both for different reasons. The lighter one looks more old and faded, but the darker one punches up all the rest of the colors. You can choose!

What about combining them in a non-intuitive way? Like leaving the lakes and bays one color, and the rest the other?

The darker one. Definitely the darker one.

Don't dilute it by mixing the two. If anything very, very slightly enhance the contrast in the land just a bit by either darkening the paper a couple of notches, or increasing the overall intensity of the highlights

This is coming along great Ilanthar. Those heads sticking out of the ground are.... weird, but weird in a really really awesome way! (I really love them).
Quite the fancy, and bizarrely neat border you've got going there.
I think any way you go with the water will look fine.

Wow, thanks a lot for the advices and candies, everyone !

So, I kept the dark blue with some more stronger shallow waters. A bit more coloring and a test about heraldry...
I really have to find some names for the missing parts, now (plus, I did typos here and there...)

You're your best judge but it sure would give it some color and style!

It's looking very good. I think some subtle color to the mountains, like how you have done the swamp, could make it pop.

wow! i really like your style, the mountains look great! (and the border is really pretty). If you gave some of your taller mountains some snow and a variation of browns or greys it might pop them out a bit more. I really like the subtle shading you used to give the hills and mountains depth though, so hopefully that won't get lost in the color.

    Thanks for your views, guys!

I tried something (in the red circles). Not sure if it really works. It seems to blend more (which is good) but to not pop so much.
