    Map Ruins of Leylon

Hey guys, I'm trying to do a city/town map for the Forgotten Realms setting of Dungeons & Dragons, going with a color scheme reminiscent of that of Mike Schley and the other official maps. It's almost done (this is the map reduced to 25% size), and I'm only waiting for feedback from the client.

This is the desaturated version. While it goes against all of my usual color preferences it's actually quite grown on me.

This was the version (saturation) I worked with until about two days ago.

Anyway, what do you guys think?

I wasn't expecting that many buildings with intact roofs when I read the thread title . But I'm just saying this as a funny remark, it's quite authentic as it is. Color wise, definitely the less saturated option.

Thank you! I'll have to add a few more details here and there, but the general idea was that they city hadn't completely fallen into ruins at this point, with the more solid houses being still intact, at least their shells.

The saturated version looks better. They both look pretty nifty though.

I'd say I prefer the darker palette for the countryside, plus, it'll be better to play with shadows. And I love that palette that you used on your latest city map

Thank you, Thomas. I won't be adding any shadows to this map (there'll be two further maps featuring zoomed-in sections of the town; that's where I'll add shadows).

Looks great, Wired! I like the saturated version best, though they both work very well!

Thank you, Daniel! I see you're also working on a city map?

And with your vote we've swayed very decisively to the saturated version. Ah, clarity...
