    Map Blood Rose novel map

So this is my second city map for a novel. In this case, Bloody Rose, the sequel to Kings of the Wyld by Nicholas Eames. I'm planning on doing a color version when I have the time.

Great map! Very clean and detailed. The only thing that bother me a little is the "dark" roads and brighter river because I tend to see the roads as rivers.

I'm really impressed by all of the different buildings! That's one thing I can't seem to do well but this map is inspiring me to practice.

Great map Tim! I like your colour choices, making the roads dark and the structures only line work. This makes the general layout of the city very clear

One likes the dark roads, one hates the dark roads!

You're tearing me apart! I can't please everyone! AAAAHHHHHH!!!

Just kidding. I went back and forth on them. I think when you decide to go against what's traditionally done, it takes a while to adjust to it.

I did want the roads to stand out.

And I understand about drawing buildings. I feel I got better, while at the same time, I look at other's maps and say the same thing about my buildings. Could be better.

Here's a hint in drawing buildings. Google for images of various kinds of buildings, and use those inspiration. And keep in mind, Inspiration isn't the same as copying. Not that you can't copy a basic building design. Another factor you have to consider, the end use. This is going to be printed in a book, and books have a lower DPI and paper quality. So there was times I realized I had put to much detail in, and had to go back and remove some, because it would have just been a little blurry from dot gain when printed.

I didn't have enough time on this map, it was a bit rushed because of many little factors that each on their own wouldn't have been a problem, but combined just really cut into my time.

    Thanks everyone.
