Thread: Reiwa Republic (personal project)

    Default Reiwa Republic (personal project)

    Hey everyone

On May 1st, the Japanese emperor Akihito abdicated and his responsibilities where shifted to his eldest son Naruhito. Along with new emperor Japan always annouce new era. The last one was called Heisei (1989-2019) and new one is called Reiwa (令和). The Kanji were taken from waka poetry and though there is no meaning to the made up word, the Japanese Foreign Ministry provided english interpretation as "beautiful harmony".

So... to celebrate new era of the country i decided to make a Reiwa map .
Aside from the name, the map dosen't have any special connection with Japan whatsoever.
I did make it an island country and also prepared Japanese labeled version for fun. (I like english better though)

It took me quite some time to finish it and i am proud of this one.

Beautiful map, Voolf! A very J.Edward-sy style map...if i saw this without context somewhere, I'd probably bet a big chunk of money that this was a J.Edward map ^^ Very nice!

Edit: And i think you posted the English version twice

Great map, Voolf! Really nice colors, and I love the branches and leaves.
As Eilathen mentioned, you posted the English version twice, and I'm really curious about the japanese one.

Hehe, this is yet another map trying out light and subtle colour palette. It's something that J.E, Mike Schley and Filippo Vanzo (onez) are doing exremely good. Trying to find something of my own in that field, but it seems it come close to J.E. work.

Wow Voolf, brilliant work. I have so much to say for this, and so little time!

The tree bordering is wonderful, and that compass, just fantastic!

I'd rep on this but I gave my limit in challenge entries.

    Cheers!

The attention to detail in this map is incredible. I love the illustrations for the border and compass rose. The landscape itself is so well detailed. Beautiful work, just excellent!

    Cheers,

I love the border work, Voolf

The map is beautifully drawn, as usual, and it's such a lovely way to celebrate a fresh new beginning.
