Wip Aug/Sept '20 Lite Challenge: The Fissuring

    Hello all,

I love the idea for this month. I cooked up the idea of an ancient, almost forgotten war - after a meteorite landed, bringing orc-like monsters to the world, the humans that lived there took drastic measures. Using magic they split the world in half, creating an enormous fissure and fencing the monsters in.

On the right half of the map are the "world breakers," the mages who split the world, and a group of druids who are trying to heal the land. On the other half are the beasties along with a group of fanatical humans who are perpetually under siege and desperate to find a way across the fissure.

This is where I'm at so far. The light at my desk is pretty abysmal so excuse the low quality photos. Once I've drawn and coloured the map I plan photograph it outside and add the type in photoshop. I've never tried this method before so lets see how it goes.

    Cheers

Welcome to the Challenge Shamension! Jumping right in on your second post is a great start.
The map is cool and the extras in the border are fantastic!

Thanks so much . The monthly challenges are a terrific idea, can't think of a better incentive to get drawing.

    Thanks so much .

I've rejigged a few things and moved on to inking. My partner gave me some feedback about my original sketch for the trees - didn't like them haha. Made a good point that I'd spent a solid couple of hours doing the boarder only to lay down a bunch of "coins" for trees haha. It didn't really suite the style so I've changed it up.

I've inked in what I've sketched out so far. I've been doing some planning for the different icons to go in the boarders. I was toying with the idea of adding them in photoshop but am a bit worried they will look quite out of place (I'm worried the type will too but I'm hoping some filters will pull that in line).

When I move to adding in the values I'm going to play with the bottom right city/icon and boarder. The style I've used for the forest is really busy. I want those icons to pop!

This is looking super nice. The borders in particular are really cool, especially the fat image on the bottom left! I am liking this, and will be eagerly awaiting any further developments here
