The Cartographers’ Guild is a forum created by and for map makers and aficionados, a place where every aspect of cartography can be admired, examined, learned, and discussed. Our membership consists of professional designers and artists, hobbyists, and amateurs—all are welcome to join and participate in the quest for cartographic skill and knowledge.

Although we specialize in maps of fictional realms, as commonly used in both novels and games (both tabletop and role-playing), many Guild members are also proficient in historical and contemporary maps. Likewise, we specialize in computer-assisted cartography (such as with GIMP, Adobe apps, Campaign Cartographer, Dundjinni, etc.), although many members here also have interest in maps drafted by hand.

"Working with Thomas and Daniel on these maps was an absolute privilege, and it’s great to see such positive feedback from this forum (which I’ve come to recognize as the den of a very skilled group of artisans). I feel we’ve created a very special series of fantasy maps, and I’m definitely in debt to Thomas and Daniel for their dedication and patience with me during the entire process.

Thomas was easy to work with, always keen to get things “just right” even if it meant drawing 10,000 trees, and was always prompt with his updates and insightful with his feedback. I really like this map! Gorgeous details like the leaf work around the key; the landmasses have a natural, organic feel to them, thanks to the placement of the hills and mountains. Unique forest style with the solid ring of trees around the denser wooded areas, but I like it!

Thanks a lot ! I do try to get that organic feel you're talking about so, I take it as a huge compliment. Getting a real world feel was a requirement for this map. I'm not the number one fan of that type of forests but it does the job. Had I to do it again, I'd do some things different.
