Terragaia
The world of Terragaia and the Arcadian Empire.
A thousand years the Arcadian Empire united all of Terragaia under its rule, the Church of Light was founded. The Church openly opposed the tyrannical rule of the Empire and lite the flames of rebellion. The Church started a crusade against the Empire that lead to a bloody civil war that split the nation in half. The Empire remained in control of the south, while the rebel coalition claimed the north.
The Rose Kingdom was founded by the rebel leader Primrose of the Wild Rose during the Great War that divided the Arcadian Empire. Rose Kingdom became one of the great nations, second only to Arcadia that kept on expanding even after Rose had stopped gathering more land. Arcadia kept annexing recently liberated smaller nations along its border and, unable to ignore such hostile actions, Rose declared war on Arcadia and the hostilities lasted for years. The war ended with the death of Queen Primrose. With no heirs to her throne, the Rose kingdom was divided among her generals. Without a unifying leader, many separatist groups rose up seeking their own independence which further divided the nation into smaller kingdoms and city states. The Rose kingdom still remained the largest kingdom of the Northern Kingdoms.
The Northern Kingdoms feared an invasion from Arcadian Empire from the south, so they formed an alliance called the Kingdom Confederation. A united military force to oppose the Empire with the bulk of their defenses on the Rose border. Most of the kingdoms in the western Altana region decided to open trade with the Empire, which caused tension with the rest of the confederation.
One of the Empire’s largest trading partner, the allied kingdoms of Altana, petitioned for the aid of the Arcadian armies. Despite repeated requests for help, the Empire remained steadfast in its isolation and dispatched not a single soldier. These actions led to the continuing diplomatic distance between the western and the eastern nations of the confederation. The empire is currently at war with its Far eastern Neighbors.
The Narshy kingdom of the Altana region refuses to sell coal to the Arcadian Empire with armed resistance. Narshy strives to remain a neutral kingdom and wants to keep the war between the Arcadian Empire and the confederation away. Narshy gained the attention of the empire when they discovered elemental crystals in their coal mines. These crystals soon became the main defense for the Rose Kingdom against the empire.
One of the major conflicts of the story is that the empire was the first to develop magical technology and they went rampant with it which lead them to be heavily dependent on sources of magical energy to run their machines. They are draining energy from both the planet and Hell to power their cities. Not only are they killing the planet but sucking up its lifeblood, because they are supplementing it with Hell energy, they are replacing what they took from the planet with poison. They are weakening the planets defense against demonic incursion but they are also making it easier for demons to invade. The planet itself is trying to protect itself by sending monsters and elementals to wipe out, not only the Empire, but all advanced civilization its surface.
