Welcome!
The Cartographers’ Guild is a forum created by and for map makers and aficionados, a place where every aspect of cartography can be admired, examined, learned, and discussed. Our membership consists of professional designers and artists, hobbyists, and amateurs—all are welcome to join and participate in the quest for cartographic skill and knowledge.
Although we specialize in maps of fictional realms, as commonly used in both novels and games (both tabletop and role-playing), many Guild members are also proficient in historical and contemporary maps. Likewise, we specialize in computer-assisted cartography (such as with GIMP, Adobe apps, Campaign Cartographer, Dundjinni, etc.), although many members here also have interest in maps drafted by hand.

My first ever hand drawn map. The battlemap is for an attack/defend scenario on the battlements of a town.
very very well done... I am studying the way you do your colors! what are your brush settings?
Cheers man Crikey, they're kind of all over the shop as like I said in the caption this is the first hand drawn map I ever did I think I was partially following one of Torstan's guides, so for the grass used a large grungy brush (think it might have been Chalk) with the edge and colour scatter turned way up, then faded it with a low opacity soft edged brush at the edges. It's all then overlayed on top of a parchment texture to give it extra detail that would otherwise take forever to replicate
