The Cartographers’ Guild is a forum created by and for map makers and aficionados, a place where every aspect of cartography can be admired, examined, learned, and discussed. Our membership consists of professional designers and artists, hobbyists, and amateurs—all are welcome to join and participate in the quest for cartographic skill and knowledge.

Although we specialize in maps of fictional realms, as commonly used in both novels and games (both tabletop and role-playing), many Guild members are also proficient in historical and contemporary maps. Likewise, we specialize in computer-assisted cartography (such as with GIMP, Adobe apps, Campaign Cartographer, Dundjinni, etc.), although many members here also have interest in maps drafted by hand.

A Sketchy Endeavor

This is a piece I have been working on (and off again) for the past couple of months. I used to draw a lot but this is my first fore into doing a more hand-drawn digital map. I think I've avoided it because I thought you needed a tablet to do good work. Turns out that you can draw and paint with a mouse.

Actually I didn't have a tablet at the time, so this was all done with a mouse in GIMP. Thanks for the kind words.

Awesome map, would love to see it advanced. Get a tablet man! can't believe you did this without. Love the gorge and dunes

Thanks Snody. This is an older piece that kind of got shelfed. I do own a tablet now though
